AntiVirus 2009

I wanted to pass along some important information along to
you today about a piece spyware that has been wreaking some havoc.  it is
call Antivirus 2009.  It is closer to being a virus itself than any type
of program that will protect you from them.   Sometimes it is
delivered through an email that tells you that you have a virus on your
computer and to click a link to download something to get rid of it.
Other times its a pop up on a web site that tells you that you are
infected.   As a general rule of thumb, no pop up on a web site knows
whether you are infected or not.  Only the antivirus software installed on
your computer will give you that notification.  If you are unaware of how
the notification will come, ask your IT staff at your company or inquire with
the company from which you bought your antivirus software.   If by
chance you do accidently click on the link, never give your credit card to a
untrusted web entity because you can almost guarantee they will use your credit card for other purchases.

Be safe out there on the internet.  It is lurking with thousands of potential threats.  If you are unsure about doing something, don’t do it.  Ask a trusted IT professional for their opinion.

Slicing Meat

Why an 80-Year-Old Hand-Cranked Meat Slicer Is Still a Cut Above
OK – this has little to do with technology…but I still thought it was an interesting article. Hope you enjoy.
